La temporada decembrina es propicia para los festejos diarios, debido a que mucha gente en especial los jóvenes estudiantes, se encuentran en vacaciones, por lo que la Comisión Federal para la Protección contra Riesgos Sanitarios (Cofepris) esta dando a conocer que las bebidas energizantes (que contienen taurina, cafeína y glucoronolactona) consumidas en exceso (más de dos latas al día) pueden provocar insomnio, nerviosismo y ansiedad por su alta concentración de cafeína. Así, las personas sensibles a esta sustancia pueden sufrir alteraciones en el ritmo cardiaco y en la tensión arterial.
Señalan al mismo tiempo, como muy común que quienes ingieren bebidas embriagantes, después buscan la manera de sentirse bien y evitar la famosa resaca.
Por otro lado, la Cofepris advierte sobre el riesgo de consumir estos líquidos combinados con alcohol, de acuerdo con la idea generalizada entre los consumidores de que esta mezcla aminora los efectos de las bebidas alcohólicas. En realidad, las personas pierden la sensación de embriaguez tras el consumo de esta combinación debido al efecto estimulante de la cafeína, que contrarresta el sedante y los síntomas típicos del consumo de alcohol, lo que no significa que la concentración de alcohol en la sangre disminuya.
Otro problema asociado al consumo de esta combinación es que tanto el alcohol como la cafeína son diuréticos y pueden contribuir a la deshidratación del organismo.
